Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas
BCBSTX Blue Cross is working to secure a new agreement with Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), which operates Medical Center of Arlington, Medical City Dallas and Medical City Children’s Hospitals in Dallas, Denton Regional Medical Center, Medical Center Alliance and Plaza Medical Center of Fort Worth, Las Colinas Medical Center in Irving, Medical Center of Lewisville, Medical Center of McKinney, North Hills Hospital in North Richland Hills, and Medical Center of Plano.
While negotiations continue in good faith, unless we reach an agreement, these facilities will no longer be part of the BCBSTX BlueChoice® PPO/POS, HMO Blue® Texas, Traditional/Par Plan and Blue Medicare Advantage PPOSM networks effective May 1, 2016.
BCBSTX is sensitive to rising health care costs and the burden it puts on our customers. We cannot in good conscience agree to terms that would increase the amounts our customers pay when they visit HCA facilities in the DFW area.
If HCA is no longer in certain BCBSTX networks, our members in the DFW area will still have access to a large network of quality and credentialed hospitals, urgent care clinics, retail health clinics, specialists and physicians.
Members planning to undergo a procedure or surgery, who would like to know their options for in-network care, should speak with their referring physicians for assistance in transferring facilities. Members also can contact the customer service number on their member ID card with questions about in-network care, and can visit our Provider Finder® online tool to determine in-network health care options that are available in their area.
We will continue working to keep HCA in our network.
We will keep you updated on the situation.

When you travel internationally, do you have the medical coverage you need away from home? Many travelers believe their domestic insurance plan will be enough when they travel abroad, but that may not be the case. Without the right plan, you may not be covered for an illness or injury. We offer long-term and short-term coverage for U.S. and non-U.S. citizens, individuals and groups.
